City Info | Emery is a city in Hanson County, South Dakota, United States. It is part of the Mitchell, South Dakota Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 447 at the 2010 census. Emery was originally called Farmington, and under the latter name the first settlement was made in the early 1880s. The present name is for Josh Emery, a wealthy land owner and cattle baron.
